Relax in our cosy lounges or explore the region on foot, snowshoes or cross-country skis. After a long winter’s day, you can unwind in our pool and wellness area.

The Ochsen is a place where tradition and modernity meet warmth and genuine hospitality.
Come and see for yourself and become our guest!
Tradition
Experience history and tradition.
The foundation stone of the guesthouse was laid in 1412, but the current building was probably not constructed until after 1713, after the village was burnt down during the siege by the French army. At that time, the Ochsen was a large agricultural estate with herds of cattle and huge tracts of land. Its meadows, fields and forests stretched as far as Bärental, Falkau and over the Hochfirst to the district of Neustadt.
The stone quarry, which also belonged to the Ochsen estate, supplied the Höllental road all the way down to Hirschsprung with stones. In 1770, the 14-year-old Austrian archduchess Marie Antoinette travelled along the newly built road on her impressive bridal procession from Vienna via Augsburg, Freiburg and Strasbourg to the Palace of Versailles.
Indulgence
Experience our renowned Ochsen cuisine: traditional Baden classics and modern, high-quality, refined dishes, always authentic and fresh. In addition to our classics such as venison from Saiger hunting and fresh trout from the Wutach, we offer a regularly changing daily special from our kitchen – seasonal and regional.
Reserve your table for à la carte dining or, as a guest of the hotel, simply choose our ‘3/4 board’ and enjoy the extensive Ochsen cuisine with breakfast buffet, coffee and cake in the afternoon and our 4-course evening menu.
Wellness
Our spa concept combines the natural power of the region with holistic well-being. In the heart of the Black Forest, we focus on regional products and local herbs to provide you with an authentic and sustainable wellness experience. In addition to soothing treatments, we offer yoga sessions tailored to your individual needs. Our services are not only available to hotel guests – external visitors are also welcome to enjoy a relaxing break with us.
